And Just Like That Gets A Summer Premiere Date For Season 3
The new trailer is full of messy romance.
Miranda’s mid-life crisis isn’t over yet... and neither are Carrie’s ever-changing love life and Charlotte’s increasingly hectic family problems. Max confirmed that And Just Like That will be back for a third season, and has already revealed when it’s coming. So raise a cosmo and check out all the details about Season 3 of the Sex and the City sequel series.
The Season 3 pickup was announced just a couple days before the And Just Like That Season 2 finale. Unlike the first season, which was surprisingly focused on grief, Season 2 brought a bit more humor into the AJLT world, as Carrie moved on from Big and started to explore a relationship with her ex Aidan again. The second season also brought Charlotte back to work as a gallerist, and put Miranda through the ringer even more than before as her relationship with Che became too rocky to sustain. Oh, and the real shocker of the season: Kim Cattrall’s brief return as Samantha Jones. Sadly, Samantha’s comeback was confined to a phone call — but maybe there’s hope for an in-person cameo in the future (although you shouldn’t hold your breath).
Here’s everything that we know about And Just Like That Season 3.
1 Main Character Isn’t Returning
Obviously, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis will be reprising their lead roles as Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte for Season 3. Most of the rest of the show’s main cast is also returning, including Sarita Choudhury as Seema, Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa, Karen Pittman as Nya, Mario Cantone as Anthony, Evan Handler as Harry, and David Eigenberg as Steve.
However, one of the revival’s buzziest characters is ending their run. In early 2022, Variety reported that Sara Ramírez will not be reprising their role as stand-up comedian Che Diaz in Season 3 of AJLT. Reportedly, the show’s writers felt Che’s story reached a natural conclusion at the end of Season 2 after their breakup with Miranda.
Another big question mark is around John Corbett’s role as Aidan. Carrie’s relationship with Aidan was a focal point of Season 2, but the season ended with the rekindled couple agreeing to put their relationship on pause for five years, until Aidan’s kids were older. That ending seemed to suggest Corbett may not appear in the new season, but a first look at Season 3 has confirmed he will be back.
Someone New Is Joining The Cast
In 2024, Parker, Nixon, and Davis all shared photos from the first table read for Season 3, confirming production had begun. But they weren’t the only ones to post a pic of the Episode 1 script. Rosie O’Donnell also posted a photo, revealing she’s joining the cast as the new character Mary.
The Trailer Reveals A Summer Premiere Date
Max released the first look at Season 3 in a trailer on April 15. The clip teases Carrie and Aidan’s tricky situationship after they agreed to put a hiatus on their romance in Season 2’s finale. The video also sees Miranda moving on from Che with a work colleague, and Charlotte catching her daughter Lily making out with a ballet dancer.
Most importantly, the trailer reveals that Season 3 will premiere on Max on May 29.
