The end of Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls brought with it the end of the titular girls’ freshman year of school at Essex College. That means when they return, they’ll be sophomores — older but not necessarily much wiser. And sadly, it sounds like one of the main girls will be transferring out of Essex in the new year. Here’s everything to know so far about The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 3, including who’s returning and when it will hit Max.

Max announced The Sex Lives of College Girls’ Season 3 renewal on Dec. 14, the day before Season 2’s final two episodes hit the streamer. The announcement came as a relief to fans, especially once they saw all the wild cliffhangers Season 2 ended on.

Warning: Spoilers for The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 follow. From Leighton (Renée Rapp) rekindling things with her ex, Alicia (Midori Francis), to the brewing love triangle between Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott), and Canaan (Christopher Meyer), the girls’ sex lives are messier than ever before. And to top it all off, Bela (Amrit Kaur) found herself at such a low point academically and socially that she left the season trying to transfer out of Essex.

With all that up in the air, there’s a lot of story to cover in TSLCG Season 3.

The New Trimester Is Coming Soon

It may have taken nearly two years since it was announced, but Season 3 got a premiere date at long last. Max released a teaser for the upcoming season, confirming it will premiere on Nov. 21.

The Trailer Is A Wild Ride

Max finally released an official trailer for Season 3 a few weeks ahead of its premiere. The party-filled video teases new hookups, and also new issues for the suitemates. In particular, Bela’s GPA is catastrophically low, Whitney is scarily stressed out, and Kimberly finds herself in one awkward situation after the next. The saddest part of all? They’ll have to say goodbye to Leighton.

1 Main Character Is Transferring Out

It seems like SLOCG is making a habit out of parting ways with major characters each season. After Season 1, Gavin Leatherwood left the series, and now his on-screen sister is following in his footsteps. On July 10, Deadline reported that Reneé Rapp will be leaving Sex Lives of College Girls in Season 3. Rapp will reportedly only appear in a few Season 3 episodes as her character Leighton, and then permanently exit before the season’s finale.

The show’s co-creator Justin Noble confirmed the news of Rapp’s exit on Instagram, sharing his support and writing, “We will miss both Reneé and Leighton.”

Rapp shared her own farewell message on her Instagram Stories shortly after the announcement. “Playing Leighton has changed my life,” she wrote. “I love who I am 10x more than I did before knowing her.”

Rapp’s departure is definitely a shock considering she’s part of the show’s main foursome, but so far, she’s the only announced cast member who’s not returning. Although Season 2’s ending teased a potential exit for Amrit Kaur’s Bela, she’ll be sticking around alongside her suitemates Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott).

New Students Are Enrolling

While fans will be saying goodbye to Leighton, they’ll be meeting a fair share of new faces in Season 3. On June 18, it was confirmed Ruby Cruz, Michael Provost, Devin Craig, and Roby Attal will be joining the season as students at Essex College.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

Cruz is best known for her breakout role as Hazel in Bottoms, and also starred in the Disney+ fantasy series Willow. Provost starred in the Netflix comedy Insatiable, and recently appeared in awards season fave The Holdovers. Craig has appeared in Queen Sugar, and Attal had a role in The Haunting of Bly Manor.

The first two seasons of SLOCG are streaming on Max now.
