Zendaya Explains How She Knew Tom Holland Was Her “Person”
This goes all the way back to the first time they met.
According to Zendaya, when you know, you know. During an April 1 interview with The New York Times, Zendaya and her The Drama co-star Robert Pattinson opened up about gut instincts when dating. As they spoke, Zendaya shared a sweet quote about when she knew her rumored husband, Tom Holland, was her “person.”
In the interview, Pattinson shared a somewhat hot take. “I kind of think the second you meet someone, you kind of know which way the relationship's going to go,” he said. “If you end up breaking up with someone or something happens, there's always that moment of ‘I knew this was going to happen.’” He added that “fear” when meeting someone for the first time is significant. “There’s a reason your body’s afraid of them.”
Zendaya supported Pattinson’s opinion. “I kind of agree with that in some ways,” she said, before adding that in her “personal experience,” she felt at ease when she found the right guy for her. “There's a certain feeling that I was able to experience when I knew that this is my person because I never ... I don't feel nervous around them,” she said.
“I feel really peaceful, and I feel really calm and I feel like, ‘Oh, I actually feel more nervous when I'm away from you than when I'm with you,’” she added. “And that's when I was like, ‘Ah, that's that's a good sign, me listening to my intuition or body.’”
Going into their first-ever meeting, Zendaya had obvious nerves, typical for any actor “having to do a chemistry read for a big movie [and] you really want the job.” Reminder: Zendaya and Holland first met while auditioning for Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2016.
Even then, however, Zendaya said that he was able to keep her relaxed “just by being a nice person, you know, by making me feel comfortable.”
“He was really lovely then,” she added.
Despite dropping some tidbits about her romance with Holland, Zendaya has neither confirmed nor denied the secret wedding rumors, which started circulating the couple in late February. Regardless of Tomdaya’s official marital status, there’s no doubt that he’s her person.
