What's Coming To Disney Parks In 2024? Here’s A Magical Breakdown
Halloween time is already here.
It was Walt Disney who said that Disneyland “will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world,” and the company has kept to that promise. Disney Parks around the world are growing with new rides, restaurants, and experiences all in 2024.
Disney announced Tiana's Bayou Adventure is slated to open at Disneyland on Nov. 15 at its D23 Expo in California, but there’s more than just attractions coming to the parks, resorts, and cruises that guests can look forward to. Halloween time has arrived at both the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California and Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Both limited-time celebrations are offering themed merch, food, and even nighttime parties with some of your favorite Disney villains. This year’s Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure Park, for example, welcomed Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb as well as Hades from Hercules for the first time ever.
These fall festivities are happening now through Oct. 31, but below, you’ll find even more details on what you can expect from the parks, Disney’s newest ship being added to its cruise line, and the Tangled-themed land now open in Tokyo.
The Princess And The Frog Ride Is *Finally* Coming To Disneyland In November
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened at Walt Disney World this summer, but fans over at Disneyland have had to wait a little bit longer to travel to New Orleans. At Disney’s D23 Expo in early August, it was finally announced that The Princess and the Frog-themed ride replacing Splash Mountain will make its debut on Nov. 15.
Located in New Orleans Square, the water attraction is also near Haunted Mansion Holiday, which recently reopened after being closed for refurbishments. Right now, you can only visit the Nightmare Before Christmas version of the Haunted Mansion via virtual queue, which happens twice a day for guests to enter in the Disneyland app.
This is just one of the many Halloween time offerings happening at the Disneyland Resort now through the end of October. There’s also limited-time snacks like the Insta-worthy Jack-O’-Lantern Mickey Pumpkin Macaron at Jolly Holiday Bakery and a twist on the viral garlic cheesy bread, the Fantasyland Garlic Cheesy Brat, at Edelweiss Snacks.
Along with snacks, Disneyland also has Halloween merch that includes a Mickey Mouse pumpkin popcorn bucket and new spirit jerseys. Disney has even added Jack, Sally, and Zero from The Nightmare Before Christmas as options for its “create your own” headbands, which have been selling out in the parks.
These character DIY bands have been a popular item at Hong Kong Disneyland, and made their debut in the U.S. this summer. Lines for the new characters were long at both the Mad Hatter on Main Street and Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff on Pixar Pier when they arrived on Aug. 23, so you better go ASAP if you want a festive headband to wear this season.
For the fall season, RunDisney is hosting an all-new Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend Sept. 5 through 8, where guests can run through both parks and earn 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon medals. While you’re there, enjoy the new The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco! show coming to California Adventure’s Paradise Gardens on Sept. 3. The Día de los Muertos show will also come with all-new Coco merch that includes ears, a cup, and bag.
Then, starting Nov. 15, the holidays will begin at the Disneyland Resort until 2025.
Guests Can Enjoy A New Country Bear Show At Walt Disney World
Similar to Disney California Adventure having seemingly endless food festivals throughout 2024, Epcot at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida also has its own schedule of events for the year. The Food and Wine Festival is running Aug. 29 through Nov. 23, and will be followed by the Festival of the Holidays in the winter.
During the fall festival, guests can also enjoy music at Disney’s Eat to the Beat concert series, which includes artists like David Archuleta, Joey Fatone from *NSYNC, and Yellowcard.
Walt Disney World also has two new attractions this year. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the first-ever Princess and the Frog-themed ride, made a splash at the Magic Kingdom on June 28. And nearby in Frontierland, a reimagined Country Bear Jamboree show premiered on July 17 with a brand-new setlist of songs.
As far as resorts go at Walt Disney World, there are two new options for Disney Vacation Club members in 2024. The Cabins At Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort opened this summer, and a new tower at the Polynesian Village Resort is expected to debut later in the year. Disneyland just opened a new tower for DVC members in 2023 with Princess and the Frog-themed suites. Non-members can reserve rooms there too, so it’s possible these new WDW suites and cabins will be available for anyone to book.
The Disney Cruise Line Is Adding A New Ship To Its Fleet
If you prefer a floating resort on the sea, you’ll be excited to hear that Disney Cruise Line is adding the Disney Treasure to its collection in December 2024. The Treasure will have an Aladdin-themed statue in the Grand Hall, and feature a brand-new Coco restaurant, Haunted Mansion bar, and Moana stage show.
It will be the second of three ships in the Wish class, the third of which, the Disney Destiny, was announced in March and will launch in 2025. The Destiny features films like The Lion King, Hercules, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians in its experiences.
Both the Treasure and the Destiny will also be sailing to new destinations, like Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. The island destination, like Disney’s Castaway Cay in the Bahamas, has gorgeous beaches, a market-style dining area, and premium family cabanas you can rent for the day. While you may have to wait until December to sail on the Treasure, other Disney ships have been sailing to Lookout Cay since June.
Fantasy Springs At Tokyo Disneyland Has The First-Ever Rapunzel Attraction
This might be the year you decide to check off a few of the international Disney Parks from your to-do list. Disneyland Paris just opened the re-imagined Disneyland Hotel, which has stunning park views depending on which room you book. Disneyland Paris also has a new show, A Million Splashes of Color, now through Sept. 30, and has an Alice & The Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland show at Walt Disney Studios Park running now through Sept. 29.
Disneyland Paris has been working on its own Frozen-inspired land, like Hong Kong’s World of Frozen, which will open in 2026. If you’re too impatient for that, over at the Tokyo Disney Resort, it just premiered some Frozen experiences with the addition of Fantasy Springs at DisneySea.
The brand new land has a Frozen Kingdom, Peter Pan's Never Land, Rapunzel's Forest, and a Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel with an entrance directly into the park. The Frozen Kingdom has unbelievable Anna and Elsa animatronics in a new ride along with two dining options, Royal Banquet of Arendelle and Oaken’s OK Foods.
In addition to Anna and Elsa, Rapunzel has her own area that includes Disney’s first Tangled ride. The Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival attraction takes guests through the Tangled story from “When Will My Life Begin” to “I See the Light” — and it looks stunning. Afterwards, enjoy a meal at the IRL Snuggly Duckling, inspired by the restaurant in the film.
The final of the three lands, taking inspo from Peter Pan, has Captain Hook’s pirate ship and Tinker Bell’s Pixie Hollow to explore. There’s also two new attractions, Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure boat ride and Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies.
With Fantasy Springs soon, 2024 is definitely the time to book that Tokyo Disney vacation you’ve been dreaming of.
